A team of Accord scientists came across a colony of unknown animals while exploring a restricted area. They managed to avoid detection and remained in the area to study the animals for some time. Below are their observations.
Name: Rasper Queen
Researcher's Notes: Raspers are large insects, ranging in size from less than one meter to several meters tall, which function in a hive structure similar to those found in colonies of ants or termites. The rasper queen stands approximately three meters tall and has six legs plus two small digging arms. Its reproductive organs are housed in its large abdomen which sits atop its body, protected by two hardened wing covers made of a chitinous substance similar to that of a shield crawler’s shell. Unlike most insects, the rasper queen does not lay its eggs externally, and instead reproduces largely internally, housing its eggs in a specialized sac until they mature. When they are ready to hatch, the queen burrows into the ground and deposits the eggs in a small hole where they quickly hatch into mature raspers ready to defend their queen. When isolated, the rasper queen can defend itself by spitting gobs of volatile resin at its attackers. Due to its hard shell, devastating projectile attack, and ability to quickly spawn reinforcements, personnel are advised to avoid engaging the rasper queen alone at all costs.
