An ARES team on a routine patrol came across a vicious animal two weeks ago. Several members of the team were severely injured, but they managed to subdue the animal without loss of life. Accord scientists have been studying this animal, and have today released their findings to the general public.
Researcher’s Notes: The strideviper appears to be an amalgamation of a venomous snake and a many-legged arthropod such as a centipede. It has a flexible many-segmented body that is carried along by an array of small but powerful legs. At the front, its body curves upwards and widens into a hood, much like that of a cobra, just behind its head. In its mouth it has two large fangs that allow it to inject its deadly venom into its prey. The strideviper normally moves at a modest pace on its many legs, but it is capable of great bursts of speed by flattening its body and slithering across the ground. When it is too far away to strike at its prey directly, the strideviper has the ability to spit its venom across large distances, so operatives are advised to give it a wide berth.
