This Wednesday, Firefall and Red 5 Studios will join with other internet properties such as Reddit and Destructoid by shutting down all online services in protest of the Stop Online Piracy Act and Protect IP Act that are currently being debated in the United States Senate and Congress.

Red 5 Studios is pleased to announce that Lee ‘Hawk’ Reherman has agreed to be our Typhon character alongside Crystal Graziano as Mourningstar at upcoming events.

While some might believe that 2012 is the end of the world, I think it’s just the beginning of a new era. The era of Firefall. This is going to be a great year. Here’s some screenshots to whet your appetite for the year to come.

Thanks to all of our fans, Firefall won the Most Anticipated MMO of 2012. We were then moved into the final round where the top 3 finalists from all categories were pitted against each other. It was a tough battle vs Planetside 2 and Guild Wars 2, but Firefall was able to pull out 2nd place overall in the Most Anticipated Game of 2012. 

At Red 5 Studios, we’ve always been big fans of cosplay. The amount of effort and skill that goes into creating costumes for conventions is amazing. With Firefall, we wanted to support those efforts. That’s why we are pleased to announce the official Firefall Cosplay Program.

I wanted to take a moment to update you all on where we are at with beta testing and development of Firefall. Please keep in mind that any features or development plans I mention are subject to change at any time and are by no means completely exhaustive of everything we are doing and working on.

Wednesday is often dismissed as yet another day of the week. It’s not the beginning. It’s not the end. But Wednesday should not be forgotten. Wednesday lets you know that you are not forever trapped in a never-ending week of boredom. And we’d like to celebrate this Wednesday with some new screenshots from Firefall.

Today, at the age of 56, Steve Jobs, founder and former CEO of Apple, has passed away. Steve has served as an inspiration to millions of people over the years. His passion, drive, and leadership helped him create and grow a small group of nerds in a garage to a massive corporation that changed the daily lives of nearly everyone on this planet. From those of us at Red 5 to all of you who knew Steve, you have our sincere and heartfelt condolences on your loss. The world as a whole mourns with you.

The time has come for a new milestone for Firefall. We just sent out our first wave of invites to the Firefall beta. Each of those invites has invites of their own to send out. Welcome to beta!

For the past two months, the Red 5 team has been hard at work preparing for the launch of our beta while at the same time travelling the world spreading the word of Firefall. We stated in previous posts that the beta would begin shortly after PAX Prime.
